ABOUT ME
I am a qualified counsellor working with adults only and have experience working with a range of issues such as:
depression
low self esteem
anxiety
trauma
difficulties in relationships
panic attacks
abuse
sexuality
loss (whether a relationship, job, role etc)
bereavement
spiritual issues
identity issues
My aim is to listen to you without offering judgment or advice and help you to find your own answers to whatever is causing you difficulty. My work draws from Person centred theory, Psychodynamic theory and CBT approaches (and am happy to explain what this actually means in practice!). Sessions often feel conversational, relational and unstructured but with a definite focus on pursuing change.
I have a diploma in Integrative therapeutic counselling at a level 4 which means that I draw on a range of theories and models tailoring my approach to each individual. I am an accredited member of the BACP and registered member of the ACC, which means I am committed to the highest standards of working ethically. I also have a BA Hons in Theology and Mphil in Pentecostal & Charismatic Studies, which have both helped me to work effectively with church leaders and matters of spirituality and faith.
I’ve been seeing clients for over a number of years and worked with Heart and Mind, a social enterprise providing low cost counselling to a range of people, for over five years. I am also tutor and guest lecturer on their level 3 Certificate in Counselling course.
